    Abstract

    In today's turbulent world, there is intense competition in the banking industry, the ever-increasing changes in providing services to customers and the need to attract and retain bank customers are among the factors that make organizational   innovation in the banking industry one of the essential requirements for banks to survive and maintain in a competitive position. For this purpose, the current study aims to investigate the effect of ambidextrous leadership on organizational innovation, emphasizing the role of knowledge search and moderating strategic flexibility in Iran's banking industry. The community of this research is the banking industry of Iran and its target community is the public, private and Qarz-ul-Hasneh banks of Tehran. To select a statistical sample using Cochran's formula, ۲۸ banks were first selected as a sample. The research questionnaire was given to ۱-۵ key people in the headquarters units of these banks who have the responsibility and education related to the research topic. Among the ۱۲۰ distributed questionnaires, ۱۱۲ questionnaires were collected. But since the basis of this research is the industry survey and each bank is considered as a sample, in the end an average of the answers of the participants of each bank was obtained and as a result the analysis was based on the same ۲۸ banks. The collected data were analyzed in two parts: descriptive statistics using   ۲۴ and inferential statistics using partial least squares (PLS) approach and using Smart PLS۴. The findings showed that ambidextrous leadership has a positive and significant effect on organizational innovation and knowledge search. On the other hand, knowledge search also has a positive and significant effect on organizational innovation. The results of the Sobel test showed that knowledge search can play a mediating role in the relationship between ambidextrous leadership and organizational innovation. But the findings showed that strategic flexibility does not have a moderating role in the relationship between knowledge search and organizational innovation. Finally, the results of this research suggested to the managers of the banking industry to acquire ambidextrous leadership skills and change their behavior based on a specific situation, Give their employees the opportunity to generate ideas and take risks, Involve their employees in decision-making, Redesign their organizational structure and processes to improve organizational innovation and make a collaborative organizational culture rule over their organization so that the innovative performance of the organization improves.
