Department of Business Administration

About the Department

Department of Business Administration is currently admitting students at Bachelors, Masters, and PhD levels. Due to the urgent need for training specialised graduates in Business Administration, the Department has tried to offer relevant degree programmes to undergraduate and postgraduate students since its establishment.
To date, 14 full-time faculty members are teaching and researching in the Department. The faculty members are offering the latest advances in various branches and areas of Business Administration. Of the 14 faculty members, two are full professors, five are associate professors, and seven are assistant professors.
Moreover, there are currently about 655 students studying in the Department. Since 1991, a total of 3134 students have graduated from the Department of Business Administration. In the 2019-2020 academic year, 178 freshmen were admitted into the Department, and 123 students were graduated.

 

Degree Programmes

The programmes offered in the Department of Business Administration are introduced and specified below.

 

 

Bachelors Degree Programmes

All Bachelors degree programmes in ATU last for four years, eight semesters.

— Business Administration: This Bachelors degree programme was established in 1997.
— Insurance Management: This Bachelors degree programme was established in 1987.

 

 

 

Masters Degree Programmes

All Masters degree programmes in ATU last for two years, four semesters. Students have to write a Masters thesis and defend it to pass the course and receive their degree certificate.

— Business Administration: Marketing. This programme was established in 1990.
— Business Administration: International Business. This programme was established in 1990.
— Business Administration: Strategic Management.
— Business Administration: E-Commerce.

 

 

PhD Degree Programmes

All PhD programmes are offered at Allameh Tabataba'i University for four years, eight semesters. Students have to pass 18 taught credits, followed by another 18 dissertation credits, 36 credits in total. After receiving the 18 taught credits, students have to sit a "comprehensive exam" and receive a minimum mark of 16 out of 20. After the Comprehensive Exam, the PhD candidates are allowed to choose their dissertation titles and prepare their proposals with the help of supervisors and advisors

— Business Administration: Organizational Behaviour and Human Resource Management. The PhD degree programme in Business Administration started to admit students in 1999.
— Business Administration: Marketing Management. The PhD degree programme in Business Administration began to admit students in 1999.
— Business Administration: Business Policymaking. The PhD degree programme in Business Administration began to admit students in 1999.
